Bratton Church Institute - Tynings Lane


Bratton Church Institute is an attractive Edwardian public building built in 1910 for use by the congregation of St James’ Parish Church.

It is a landmark building situated in an elevated position on Tynnings Lane close to the centre of the village and the community it serves.

Although it was extended and refurbished in 2009, it retains many of its charming Edwardian features including large feature windows, vaulted ceiling and wooden floors.

It has a beautifully inscribed foundation stone recording the ceremony in which it was laid by the Marquess of Bath in 1910.

The Bratton History Association aims to provide all those curious about local history with an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and discover more about the history of Bratton and Wiltshire. Activities include monthly meetings, talks by professional historians, visits to places of interest to historians, and our own local history project.
