East Marsh Farmhouse - Lower Road


Now hidden behind a high beech hedge, Grade II listed, East Marsh Farmhouse is made of Flemish bond brick on a rubble stone plinth with the ridge of its tiled roof punctuated by a large central chimney stack. The house started life as a 16th Century open hall house, but was altered in the 17th Century and re-fronted in both the 18th and 20th Centuries. It is situated on a large plot backing on to a woodland to the North. The Stradbrook, which forms the Parish boundary, runs along its eastern edge and this presumably gave rise to its name.
