Rosenheim Farmhouse - Lower Westbury Road


Grade II listed Rosenheim Farmhouse dates back to the late 17th Century. It is made of English bond brick on a rubble stone plinth with an interesting two-brick plat band at the first floor level. Attached to front are 19th Century cast-iron railings with spear heads. The gabled porch is a 20th Century addition.

Attached to right is a 19th Century extension which, until recently, was used as the dairy. The last farmer to occupy the property has many amusing anecdotes to tell about his time there including the day his herd of cows took a wrong turn on their way from the pastures opposite in to the garden of The Court House and were only narrowly diverted from trampling through the newly-built glass rotunda. Another when one of his pregnant sows escaped and made her way through an open door at Court Farm House to give birth to her litter of piglets in the living room. They were only discovered when the owner returned from the pub a little worse for wear and not quite believing what his eyes were telling him.
