Spring Gardens - StradbrookThe two terraces of Victorian cottages (known as Spring Gardens) in Stradbrook were built by John Reeves (1815-92), for the families of men that worked at RJ Reeves Ironworks which he ran with his brother, Robert. Backing on to the stream which forms the Parish boundary between Bratton and Edington, the two terraces contain three cottages a-piece. Built of brick with tiled roofs, these modest homes were a significant improvement on the cramped and dilapidated cottages that they replaced. [Return] |
