White Cottage - Melbourne Street


Located on the corner of Melbourne Street and Stradbrook, White Cottage is a late-17th Century cottage made of English bond brick with some timber-framing. The pan-tiled roof has a half-hip to the right and brick chimney stacks. The two doorways facing Stradbrook attest to its origins as two cottages. The interior retains timber-framed partitions, planked doors and a part-blocked open fireplace. It is thought that its name derives from one of its original owners or tenants rather than the colour of its mid-20th lean-to extension.
